Verse of the Week

Romans 8:28 “All things work together for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose.”  Does this mean that everything that takes place in your life is good?  Of course not!  But God can make all things work together for good.  God has a greater good and purpose predetermined for each of us.

Verse of the Week Gal. 6:9

Verse of the Week: Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.  (NIV)  I want to encourage you to spend so time with this verse this week.  Let God speak to you through it.  Some of you may have been holding on and holding fast for the time of reaping, I want to encourage you to not give up.  Reaping comes to those who continue on.  The question it seems we must always ask, “Is it the right thing or the good thing to do”?  And if so “keep on keeping on”

Benefits of Being Radical

Jeremiah 17:7-8 7 “ Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD.  8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,  Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.

We all desire to be blessed.  The blessing comes from our trust and our hope in the Lord.  We are not talking about optimism we are talking about hope.

We need to plant ourselves close to the source.  Just like the tree that is planted by the river is strong because its roots are able to go down deep.  We must plant ourselves close to our source the living word.  Let our roots go down deep in Him.

How do we know if we have deep enough roots?

1.  Endure the Heat

2.  Overcome the Drought

3.  Stay Alive

4.  Continue to Produce

Do those four thing characterize your life?

If not then you need to get more radical.

Lack of Faithfulness What Does It Cost?

1 Chronicles 10:13-14

13 So Saul died because he was unfaithful to the Lord. He failed to obey the Lord’s command, and he even consulted a medium 14 instead of asking the Lord for guidance. So the Lord killed him and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse.

We see the last words spoken in Chronicles about Saul.  It is like his epitaph.  What will your epitaph read?  What will be said about you when your life here on this earth is said and done?  Saul life it seems was shortened because of his unfaithfulness to God.  God had given to him a great responsibility but he failed to fulfill it.  Let us be found faithful to the call of God upon our lives.

Celebrate Marriage

It was great seeing four couples stand and renew their wedding vows to one another.  Marriage is a institution that is being greatly attacked today in our society.  Praise God for the victory when we can have a class with 10 couples that go through a marraige enrichment class called “Fire Proofing Your Marriage”.  Thanks to Kenny and Belinda Green for their faithfulness in sowing into the lives of these couples.  Brian and Stacy Avery also assisted in leading a small group in this class.

God’s word encourages us to lift up, teach and encourage one another.  Ministry is about others.  Jesus said, “I came not into this world be served but to serve.”  He also said by this you will kow that they are my disciples if you have love for one another.  This love is demonstrated in our service and ministry into others lives.

Come Boldly And Keep Coming

I was sent this devotion.  I think it is a reminder we all need in times like we are in today.

COME BOLDLY AND KEEP COMING

“Don’t quit in hard times; pray all the harder.”  Romans 12:12 MSG

I know what it’s like to want to give up.  To “throw in the towel.”  To lose heart and quit.  I felt this way just the other day, when I was praying for the umpteenth time about my family’s finances.  The Lord, sensing my despair and discouragement, spoke to my heart.  He reminded me of His Word in Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV), which says:  “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”  The words, “come boldly,” penetrated my heart like never before, even though this Scripture was one that I had heard countless times before.  I realized then that there had been times when I approached God with my financial concerns with some uncertainty.  I often thought to myself, “Should I even be praying this much about our finances?  Is this doing any good?  I certainly don’t see much evidence that it is.”  As I considered these things, I had to admit that I hadn’t always “come boldly” to the Lord to ask for His wisdom and help with our finances.  Instead, I had let doubt and reasoning make my prayers anemic and powerless.  Scripture says:  “Because of our faith in [Christ], we dare to have the boldness (courage and confidence) of free access (an unreserved approach to God with freedom and without fear).” (Ephesians 3:12 AMP)  Those of us who have put our trust in Jesus as our Savior and Lord have the privilege of calling upon Almighty God for help when we are in need.  While we should never adopt a flippant or irreverent attitude, we should always act upon the belief that we are God’s chosen.  And we need never approach Him with reservations, uncertainty, or fear.

Besides impressing me with the idea of “coming boldly” before Him, the Lord showed me that I was to “keep coming.”  He reminded me of the Parable of the Persistent Widow in Chapter 18 of Luke.  Here, we discover that:  “[Jesus] told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not to turn coward (faint, lose heart, and give up).” (Luke 18:1 AMP)  It’s not easy persevering in prayer when it looks like we’re not getting any tangible results.  But persisting in prayer is exactly what Jesus is saying He wants us to do.  He goes on to tell the story about a helpless widow who approaches an unrighteous judge for help.  “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared about men.  And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’” (Luke 18:2-3 NIV)  It was the words, “kept coming,” that the Lord wanted me to focus on.  Because of my doubt and discouragement, I was tempted to pray less and less about my financial concerns.  God wanted me to know that if I expected to eventually gain the victory in my circumstances, I was going to have to “keep coming” before Him with my petitions.  If I continued to faint and give up, I was going to forfeit some amazing rewards and blessings.  As Jesus continues His prayer lesson in this passage, He says that if an unjust judge would answer the cries of someone in need, how much more would a faithful and loving God answer “His chosen ones, who cry out to Him day and night?” (Luke 18:7 NIV)  The Lord ends this passage with a convicting question directed at His disciples:  “However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find [persistence in] faith on the earth?”  (Luke 18:8 AMP)

Perhaps you are at risk of fainting and giving up in some area today, and the Lord is speaking to your heart through this message.  If you listen carefully, you just might hear Him say, “Come boldly…and keep coming.”

Lord, forgive me for the times that I’ve had a need, and I approached You with timidity or trepidation.  Remind me often that because of my faith in Christ, I never have to hesitate to come before You.  Thank You that as I approach You with confidence and persistence, I will receive Your highest and best in every situation I face!
