11 Oh, please help us against our enemies,
for all human help is useless.
12 With God’s help we will do mighty things,
for he will trample down our foes.

We spend a lot of our time focued on what we can do in our own power and strength.  We need to place our focus on what God can do.  The psalmist is saying that with God’s help we can do mighty things.  He will help us to overcome and defeat our foes.

What are the foes in your life that needs to be defeated?

What are you doing to defeat them?

What are you asking God to do to defeat them?

I believe this verse is tied to the passage we read in Mark 14:38 this past week “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation.  The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.”  If we will call on the spirit of God it is truly willing and able.  Our problem is that we have the woman who touched the hem of Jesus’ garment syndrome.  She said that she had tried everything known to man to help her with her problem.   Now she comes to Christ.  Why not let us try coming to him first.

I wish I always went to Christ first instead of wearing myself out trying to fix things in myself. Verse 11 says “all human help is useless” and yes that includes me. God is so good He patiently waits and watches as we try many things with His arms open wide for us to come rest in Him.

That verse reminds me…I can do all things through Christ, who strenthens me. Without his help, I am powerless. Like Belinda said, thank goodness he is patient and willing to “fix” what we have messed up. Like any good parent, he allows us to make our mistakes and then see what a difference it makes when we listen.
